Wednesday, May 21:  10:30 am.  Cardinal Theodore McCarrick will lead the Eucharistic Liturgy in celebration of the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Mariners and People of the Sea, designated as May 22 by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in November 2005. St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church on Capitol Hill, 313 Second Street, NE, Washington, DC.  Under the auspices of the Apostleship of the Sea, http://www.aos-usa.org/

Thursday, May 22, 2008:  10 am.  National Maritime Day observance ceremony sponsored by the Maritime Administration: http://www.marad.dot.gov.  Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, West Basin Drive, just south of the National Mall.  Rain venue: Department of Transportation headquarters, 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE.  Secretary of Transportation Mary E. Peters has accepted invitation to speak.

Thursday, May 22, 2008: 2 pm.  Military Sealift Command wreath-laying ceremony.  Washington Navy Yard.  Speaker, General Norton A. Schwartz, Commander, U.S. Transportation Command.  By invitation only.
